We cover AI without the echo chamber

AI News Round is a digital publication covering artificial intelligence — the technology, the business, the policy, and the people affected by all of it.

Most AI journalism is written by people inside the AI industry, for people inside the AI industry, from cities where the AI industry is concentrated. That produces good coverage of some things and blind spots about everything else. We are trying to close some of those gaps.

We cover the announcements and the controversies. The research papers and the regulatory fights. The tools that actually work and the ones that don't. We cover what AI means for Africa and the Global South not as a footnote to a story about somewhere else, but as a story worth telling on its own terms.

What we don't do

We don't run sponsored editorial. We don't publish AI-generated articles and label them as journalism. We don't cover every model release as though it is a historic event. We don't treat access to AI companies as a prerequisite for critical reporting on them.

The Africa angle

Our coverage of AI in Africa is not charity and it is not condescension. The continent has real AI researchers, real AI companies, real policy debates, and real stakes in how global AI governance develops. We cover those things. When major AI stories break — a new model, a regulatory decision, a research finding — we routinely ask what it means for African developers, African governments, and African users, and we publish the answer alongside our main coverage. On most articles you will find that answer in a marked box.

Our standards

We correct errors promptly. We label opinion as opinion. We disclose relationships between our contributors and the companies they write about. Our editorial decisions are not for sale. The detail is in our editorial standards and corrections policy.
